Lofoten from 1978 Steps Up

Reinebringen is the most popular hike in all of Lofoten. It is special for it's picturesque view at the top which you can get to by taking 1978 stone steps placed by a team of sherpas from Nepal. Park at one of the lots at the turn towards Reine and walk the road (water on your left) around a tunnel until you reach the trailhead. This took us 10-15 minutes.

When we arrived there was a group of girls cheering on their fellow hikers as they returned from the top! We began the steps, hiking up through trees and ferns. This lasts for a while before opening up and feeling a bit airy at times.

There are several rest stops along the way providing a place to sit and take a break if needed. A couple of parts that tested our fear of heights but overall it felt pretty safe. If it gets too busy just stand still and let people walk around you until it clears before moving on! It was quite busy throughout but it was easy to stop and let people pass if it felt too crowded. Everyone appeared to be in good spirits having made it to the peak and completing the challenge. We were lucky to get a view in overlooking the town with mountains before the clouds came in.

This wasn't the most challenging or beautiful hikes in Lofoten but it will give you a workout and feeling of achievement when you reach the top and enjoy that view!
