One of the Most Beautiful Alpine Lakes in the World
Oeschinensee lake is about a mile walk from the train stop in town. There are a few restaurants before reaching it and the beach was full of people enjoying the beautiful day. We ate shoreside and took a dip in the water before beginning the trek up and around the lake.
The trail is challenging, gaining roughly 2,000 feet in under 5 miles. The stunning backdrop views of the Blüemlisalps follow you along the way and the color of the lake appears changes from to the sun hitting it from different spots as walk.
The trail continues up past walls of rock and different angles of the lake with plenty of choices to pick your favorite spot! By the time you reach the top it so tiny after reaching the highest point on the trail and the overview of the area and mountains is breath-taking!
We can easily say this is one of the prettiest hikes we've done. The only thing keeping it from out-ranking Schynige Platte or Grinnell Glacier is that it's views are limited to the lake and mountains surrounding it.
