A Nighttime Hike in the Daylight
Mannen trailhead is located across the street from Hauklandstranda Beach. We walked the beach first then crossed the main road which led to a side road heading up to where the trail begins. There are several paths up so it is tough to get lost. It's a steady climb up peaking at over 1,000ft in 2.5 miles. There were sheep roaming around and plenty of hikers explaining the numerous paths heading up so as to avoid obstacles.
This uphill hike offers plenty of unobstructed view points in every direction. The lookout about 3/4 up gives the best view of the beach with it's teal coastal waters and mountains sprouting out of the water beyond.
Behind us was a reservoir and vast view of mountains going on for miles. We reached a point where it was too steep and airy for our taste so we decided to head back down. This was a steady, busy uphill hike that gave us a good taste of what was to come from our next Lofoten climbs.
